The short version: PlateBase is a free comparison website. We show you prices from other dealers — we don't sell plates ourselves. By using this site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use PlateBase.

PlateBase is a free private number plate price comparison website operated by Project27, a sole trader business based in the United Kingdom. PlateBase is a trading name of Project27.

We are not a plate dealer, broker, or reseller. We do not sell private number plates. All purchases are made directly through third-party dealers who are independent of PlateBase.

2. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using PlateBase at platebase.co.uk, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use this website.

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page. Continued use of PlateBase after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

3. What PlateBase does

PlateBase provides a comparison service that:

Lists private number plates available from third-party UK dealers
Displays pricing information sourced from those dealers' websites
Links you through to the dealer's website to complete any purchase
Provides general information and guides about the private plate market

PlateBase does not:

Sell, transfer, or broker private number plates
Handle any financial transactions
Guarantee the accuracy of prices shown at the time of your visit
Act as an agent for any dealer listed on the site

4. Price accuracy

⚠️ Important: Prices displayed on PlateBase are sourced from dealer websites and are provided for comparison purposes only. Prices can change at any time. Always confirm the current price directly with the dealer before making any purchase. PlateBase is not responsible for any discrepancy between prices shown on our site and prices charged by dealers.

We make reasonable efforts to keep pricing information up to date but we cannot guarantee that all prices are accurate, complete, or current at the time you view them.

5. Affiliate relationships

PlateBase may earn a referral fee when you click through to a dealer and make a purchase. This is how we fund the site and keep it free to use. This referral fee is paid by the dealer and does not affect the price you pay.

Our affiliate relationships do not influence how dealers are ranked or displayed. We aim to show the lowest available price first, regardless of which dealer it comes from.

6. Third-party dealers

All dealers listed on PlateBase are independent third parties. When you click through to a dealer's website, you leave PlateBase and are subject to that dealer's own terms and conditions, privacy policy, and pricing.

PlateBase is not responsible for:

The availability of any plate listed on a dealer's site
The accuracy of dealer descriptions, ratings, or information
Any transaction you enter into with a dealer
Any dispute between you and a dealer
The conduct, products, or services of any dealer

If you have a problem with a purchase, you should contact the dealer directly. If you are unable to resolve a dispute, you may be able to seek assistance from Citizens Advice or your payment provider.

7. Intellectual property

The PlateBase name, logo, website design, and original content are owned by Project27 and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without our written permission.

Dealer names, logos, and trademarks displayed on PlateBase belong to their respective owners and are used solely for identification and comparison purposes.

8. Limitation of liability

PlateBase is provided "as is" without any warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Project27 shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from:

Your use of or inability to use PlateBase
Inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated pricing information
Any transaction entered into with a third-party dealer
Any interruption or unavailability of the website

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
